Its a game/series worth buying even though I hate horror games! It's most "jump scary" part lies in the first few hours of the game, when you have no idea what's going on. Later, though, you get used to the "jump scare" simply because you're so overpowered that it's like seeing a cockroach in terms of disinterest.

How scary are the BioShock games
The game has horror elements but it's not totally a horror game. The intro is creepy and there's a couple of creepy locations later on but for the most part you get too powerful too quick for it to stay scary. Well, this game is rated "M" due to graphic violence, sexual themes, use of alcohol and tobacco. That said, any 14 year old that watches TV has already been exposed to copious amounts of all those, so it's really no harm done, if you ask me.
