Their is some good improvements in 3 such as that you can now actually have a automatic trap system that kills everyone. In 2 there was always one or two bards that were trap immune and disarmed all traps. It was rather annoying. The menus, controls, and creature pathfinding are all much more reliable and responsive. Not perfect, but way better. Maps are MUCH bigger, you can have way more workers, and have much bigger armies.
